I think if the protective layer is 1/6th the thickness of existing DVDs they are going to scratch quite easily and be useless. My guess, (just a guess), is if they come out with BOTH formats, the Blu-Ray will prove to NOT LAST in everyday use and the war will end in about a year when everyone sees how fragile they are.


Given Disney's rather abissmal record in the DVD department (bringing movies out for a limited time to be able to charge the highest price they can for them), I would say that that thought has done more than just cross thier minds.
