I think the article you provided explains the deal. Basically, Netflix can buy any title available at retail and offer it for rent. Blockbuster can and does get some releases and games and discs with special extras that aren't available at retail. Some films Netflix offers aren't available in the special version Blockbuster carries, others aren't available anywhere other than Blockbuster at all for a short period. Bottom line, it doesn't amount to much other than something for Blockbuster to advertise and hopefully entice customers to visit their stores.
