Hey guy I need a little help with my surround sound
I Have: Bose® Network-ready 5.1 Home Theater Package Pioneer AV Receiver 2 HDMI Cables 1 Component Cable 65" Vizio LCD 3D TV PS3 Apple TV I hook up all the speakers and everything and all the speaker ARE WORKING. The sound wasn't playing so I called customer assistance and he told me to connect the hdmi cable from the tv to the Bose AV Receiver and the cable box to the Bose AV Receiver. It's working. Problem: (1) If I turn off the AV Receiver the TV goes black and says "No Signal" (2) If I switch to a different HDMI Input the sound still plays (3) The standard TV volume doesn't work anymore only the speakers (4) Speakers don't play any other hdmi outputs only the one the cable box is connected to (5) If I turn off the tv the speakers still play On my old speaker system I used 1 component cable and everything worked perfectly. When you switched the hdmi outputs it played the hdmi output your on. The TV volume worked and the speakers did as well. And when I turned off the tv it stopped playing. It was good I had to get new ones because some of the speakers stopped working. But I'm having all these problems with these new ones I forgot where the component cable originally had gone on the old ones. And I don't know how to hook up the hdmi cable to the way I want. So if anybody could please help me fix this problems and tell me what to connect where it would be greatly appreciated. |

It sounds like everything is working as it should, but that you are a little confused.
The AV receiver is now the hub of your system, not the TV. All switching should be done through it. The TV should only have one HDMI in from the AV receiver out. So when you switch from cable to PS3, you switch to that input on the receiver, not the TV. And both video and audio will follow. The TV should stay on the same HDMI input all the time. This is the same reason you get no signal when you shut the receiver off. Some have a bypass that will allow a signal (+ audio) to be sent if the receiver is off, but you have to manually enable it. I'm not familiar with the Bose, but you might check the set up menu. It sounds like on your old system that you had everything fed into the TV & then back out to your audio system. That wouldn't give you true 5.1 on most sources, so the way you have it now is better. What are you using the Pioneer for? Do you have two a/v receivers? |

Please don't double post the same question in multiple threads. This particular question doesn't seem to have anything to do with 3D displays.
