Default Is it possible to get a software update for my blu ray player to play 3d movies?

I have a Samsung Blu Ray player and a 3D tv, now i find that i have to buy a 3D Blu Ray player in order for me to make use of the 3d capabilities of my TV. Surely all i need is a Firmware Upgrade for my Player (like sony did with the playstation 3) to play 3d Movies. Is there one out there? Cant find one from Samsung

Only the PS3 can be upgraded to become a 3d blu-ray player. For stand alone players you must buy a 3d capable player. There is no way to upgrade your player , you will need to buy a 3d player to play 3d blu-rays.

The biggest reason why a firmware update will not work with a BD player (and did for the PS3) is because they do not have the required 2X speed BD drive. They only have a 1X speed BD drive. 3D BD requires a 2X speed BD drive to work. The PS3 has always had a 2X speed BD drive in it.

a note of interest, Samsung is backed by the Korean Govt., who owns it. So when you buy a sammy you support this govt.

Having lived in Seoul S.K and having dealings with Samsung in the past I can say that is 100% not true - Samsung is a conglomerate of privately held subdivisions forming a 'supercompany' or in Korean terms chaebel (cabal). The gov't does not own any of it. As a matter of fact recently the gov't fined Samsung for price fixing on their mobile handsets.

Like Jkklyer said, you cannot do that. It is really a great shame. So, please prepare your money to buy the 3D Blu Ray player
