First off, I'm not a sports fan at all. I never watch any sports, ever. But the other day I recorded the Clemson/Auburn game on ESPN 3D on my DVR just out of curiosity to see what it would look like.
I watched part of it tonight...WOW!! ![]() ![]() If I did like football then 3D football games would be all I would want to watch. It was astounding! The sense of depth was incredible...you can discern the distances between the players, if that makes any sense. I didn't watch the whole game (again, don't like sports), but I can definitely see a market for 3D football games...

My son and I went to see the National Championship game they had in theaters in 3D a couple of years ago. Maybe the reason I'll consider 3DTV. It is awesome.

Being able to perceive, in 3D, how far away the players were from one another was astounding...

I'll probably wait for the pro games to be in 3D. Once that starts, I'll be there. It may take several cable channels like the ticket to cover all of them, but in a few years I won't be surprised it it does not happen.
Aiptek has a 3D camera that is 720p HD for under $200!! Uses 2-5mp sensors. So the cost is coming down even for home movies. |

And this is why the boo birds and doomsayers of 3d will lose again. This is the market, or one of them that will make 3d sucessful, in the long run. Theres always a group of people that doom new technology's, before they even have a chance! HD-DVD vs BLU-RAY, as far back as VHS vs DVD. They said HDTV would do noting, and all there wisdom they could muster up
Now here we are 2011 Blu-ray on top, hdtv on top, and 3d is getting there. People are interested in 3d, and despite there efforts the boo birds will lose again. Will they ever learn, in the case of 3d the whole industry is behind it, and in the end they will win.

Although I still can't understand why some people are so negative in respect to 3D, I truly do believe it is the next big thing and from the way it looks it is going to happen and become the dominant technology in viewing entertainment.

As far as the whole industry being behind 3D, it doesn't matter a whit if consumers don't want it. A lot of people can't handle extended 3D viewing and the glasses can be a real pain. No, 3D is not a slam dunk by any stretch. Don't get me wrong though, I'm on its side and I really hope it takes off (although I don't believe it could ever be the default viewing mode, rather as an alternative). I can't wait to check it out in my home, when I get a 3D ready TV, and see what the fuss is about.

Meh...until you don't need to wear the goofy and expensive glasses, 3D will just be another gimmick.

I agree that the need for glasses will really throttle its growth more than anything. I'm curious as to whether I can hold out for 2 hours wearing them, without taking a break. Glasses have never agreed with me.
