Who told you that garbage??

Hell, a standard DVD is quite capable of being written with 1080p data, only not 2 hours worth.

Either format (blu ray or HD) would be equally capable of having higher resolution data written to it, and both would have "about" the same time limitations.

Anyway, it is not even an academic issue, since (as another poster tried to point out) there are NO television sets that could handle a higher resolution format anyway.
