Not sure if you did this, but I had the same problem with my Samsung, HDMI not supported message, I hooked up component cables and HDMI at the same time to my TV and
DTV box, set the input on the TV to component, waited about ten minutes then changed input to HDMI and unhooked the component cables, it worked for me, but I haven't any idea why.
