All HDMI ports support HDCP protocols, it was only some older DVI ports on HDTV's that did not, so if that is the problem (the HDCP handshake not occurring), then the order in which you turn things on should correct it.

The "not supported" message is a different error message than the "copy protection" message, that's why I'm wondering if it may be a problem with the resolution handshake...
