The more SoC manufacturers we have - the more competition we have - the lower the component costs become - the cheaper it is to build a player.
That was the reason for my posting this thread. We now know of four SoC manufacturers:
1. SIGMA
2. Broadcom
3. VIXIS
4. NEC
Does anyone remember years ago what happened to the PC memory market when we only had a few memory manufacturers? The price of memory was VERY high. A bunch of manufacturers started making memory and the price took a nose dive and became extremely affordable.
The SoC is the "heart" of a HD player.
