This according to David Vaughn at HTS where he said this:

As John stated, there are two issues at work here. One is the time that it takes to encode in BD-J vs. HDi, which by two different sources from studios (one a neutral studio and one a BD only studio) have both stated that BD-J is a time pit and takes extensive programming knowledge to use. The other, is the actual yield rates on BD50 lines, which are VERY low at under 40% and I have been told that by 3 different sources.

He is an official studio reviewer for several studios and I trust what he is saying to be true. If Sony does not want MORE studios to defect, I suspect they will be hitting the Lines of credit some more to start doing the BD50 subsidies again.
Everyone except BobY stopped talking about those BD50 subsidies and I think most people assumed that BD50s got their yields up quite a bit because a lot of movie discs were using them, but it just turns out that Sony pulled the wool over many peoples agains again and we will start hearing more stories about this. I suspect there are many more "The Emperor Has No Clothes" stories that will be coming out. BD could be the biggest house of cards to fall since Enron.
