I read this article yesterday and the point the guy is trying to make like Lee is also is that pretty much for any format that is presently out HDMI 1.3- 1.3b is useless for anything we currently use or will be using in the near future. Blu-ray players and hddvd players can never take advantage of deep color because the movies are encoded with 8 bit color and not the 16 bit deep color necessary to display deep color and they never will be so pretty much what it breaks down to is the only thing 1.3 can help us with presently is proper lip sync. It's a total joke, because even if they wanted to change it for blu-ray and hdd it wouldnt matter because the movie is filmed in 8 bit color so therefore you can not get the 16 bit deep color necessary any way.
