Cheaper, yes. Movies offer more, yes - for today.

Better specs? I don't think so. I think at worst they are even since HD DVD has some things blu-ray doesn't a vice versa.

Better audio? I'm not sure about this either. I believe the specs allow them to be the same.

None of the above matters though since either format will be more then adequate for the vast majority. And sales make sense - there are more blu-ray players out there. Anything other than blu-ray beating HD DVD wouldn't make sense.
