DF players will not change the war. BRD will continue to lead in software sales for a long time so that fact will continue to be thrown into the faces of HD DVD owners - hence the format war.
Remember BRD wants a win while HD DVD wants to survive.

I think they both want to win, at the moment Toshiba are probably thinking to themselves, we have to look at survive right now, but later on if they are still in it and have a good chance, then they will think about winning, but you are right, as of now, its survival while blu ray are easily locking their eyes on winning.
