Keep in mind that HD DVD doesn't have 70% of the total standalone market, but rather the 70% represents the market share of the last two months. I was under that impression at first since I didn't carefully read the wording that it was only for April and May.

Hopefully HD DVD can continue the momentum with the new price cuts but we'll have to contend with the newly launched $499 Sony BD player. Both are selling side by side now I hear at some Costcos (Sony at $450 and the Toshiba at $250) so it's going to get interesting.

In HD DVD's favor however, is that Sony has to appease their BDA partners and Toshiba doesn't. If Sony continues to play along with Toshiba's pricing game, they will face the wrath of Panasonic, Samsung, Pioneer and the other BD manufactureres and they may seek out the relatively fresh dual format pastures where Toshiba and Sony won't crap on.
