Well, I have 2 of those in my home and by following the directions EXACTLY as I posted them - they both now have this new feature.
I won't ask you if you did exactly as I outlined cause I will not insult your intelligence to follow simple directions.
So the only thing I can come up with is that your remote may be "defective"
You are using the 6412's provided remote and NOT a universal remote right?
If you have a Comcast store near you - try bringing in your remote and exchange it for another one and see what happens.
