VIP Hard drive options?
Just watched a rebroadcast of the 5/14 Tech Forum. Heard one very interesting item:
A new feature is scheduled to be available for Vip 211s that will enable the USB port, and you will be able to add an off-the-shelf hard drive and turn it into an HD DVR. With an enabling fee, of course. Scheduled to be rolled out "the end of the year"...
This sounds great. I only got the Vip 622 (which, BTW, I have had no issues with) for the DVR functionality. Had this been an option 6 months back, I'd have gone that way...
Does anyone know if the Vip 622 will be able to use (or can already use) an off-the-shelf HDD to expand the recording capacity? I know that has beeen talked about on the forum for quite a while.
Would love to be able to go out & buy a terabyte drive...
They also mentioned that folder organization is coming to the DVR, and even custom folders.
And the ability to schedule your DVR to record something from the internet...
Is there any place that keeps track of these news bits outside of these forums?
