That was exactly the question i originally asked myself when the HDMI links launched. if you are a high-end audio craver, the signals will almost always run to seperate components.
I realized that the majority of the market would prefer a single link for convenience though.
My issue with this is that surely there would be a loss of sound quality in a link like this as opposed to a proper seperate AES EBU or high quality Coax link for the audio.
has anyone actually tried to compare the sound in a high-end system over HDMI vs Coax/AES?
