This is one of the most quoted articles on the subject of HDMI vs component (and the poster mrm64 should probably have linked to it, or at least attributed it to the writer, but it's good information). And it's written by someone who does not care whether you use component or HDMI.
Bluejeanscable, where the article is posted, is a great source of inexpensive, high quality cables (not like the $100 Monster HDMI cables). There are others like monoprice.com. I have used cables from both companies and can recommend them (and am in no way associated with either!)
