yeah i agree, there is WAY too much stuff in that article to pick apart, and rather easily i might add. i will make a few quick points though..
2.) he says in the article that the ps3 has a free online network, and that you pay for the 360, but he fails to mention that if you want to actually download content onto your ps3, that it DOES cost money, it is not FREE, like he is implying. xbox360 ALSO has a free online service, the silver membership which lets you jump online and go to the xboxlive marketplace and stuff like that...and if you want to download stuff, you can pay for it. true though, the free online ps3 network lets you play games online for free, but until they get more users and actually PROVE it is a better service, simply SAYING yours is better is not really proof against an online service that has OVER 5 million gold membership users!!..lol
3.) the whole issue with 9gb vs. 50gb space can't be taken at face value, since it was admitted in the article that Gears of War used more textures than any other currently released game, on the 360 or ps3, and yet it was graphically better, AND FIT, on a 9gb disc, where as other games on the PS3 took up significantly more space, but could not match the textures used for Gears of War. he also contradicts himself because he says you have 16 times the space with ram, BUT BUT BUT he fails to mention that the ps3 DOES NOT have the FULL 512mb to allocate to the graphical demands of a game like the xbox360 has...the ps3 has 256mb of ram dedicated to graphics, and 256mb dedicated to the cpu processes and other areas, so a game developer CAN'T rely on 512mb of ram from the ps3 to stream textures, which is his whole reason why Gears of War is graphically better than any other game out, a developer can rely on 512mb for grpahics ONLY ON THE 360.....he also said the reason Gears of War looked far better than any other game was because it was able to utilize the Unreal 3 engine which streams textures, BUT the 512mb available to stream all those textures is ONLY AVAILABLE on the xbox360. he then says the 360 only has a SLIGHT edge in that department. that is like saying a ferrari has only a SLIGHT edge over a ford..lol wow, for being the chief creative officer, he really was not informed about the actual technical specs of the ps3 vs 360
4.) Casino Royale.....huh? how is that an argument? he makes the point that since it broke the top10 in dvd sales, it clearly is the reason the ps3 will win. well, what happens when the Matrix Trilogy breaks the top10 for sales on HD-DVD and sells more than Casino Royale, will that declare the 360 a winner?
5.) HDMI....there's not anything needed to say here since within the next week we are going to find out the new 360 elite comes out WITH HDMI...kind of makes his whole argument about FUTURE gamers and meeting FUTURE needs of HDMI seem rather foolish :P
6.) standard harddrive....see, he shoved his foot in his mouth on this one..he states that because the ps3 has at least a 20g harddrive, that it GAURANTEES developers have AT LEAST 20gig to cache files for games...okay, am i missing something here, or does he think that NO CONTENT will EVER be put on the harddrives by ps3 owners??? how is having the harddrive GUARANTEEING that a game developer has 20gb's of space at his disposal??? game developers would have to develop games on the ASSUMPTION that they have LIMITED or NO SPACE available on a harddrive. if a ps3 owner has his drive full and puts in a game that some developer thought he had 5gb's to cache large files to, then the game CAN'T EVEN BE PLAYED!!!! stupid comment here...simple as that
Does anyone even think this is an INDEPENDANT developer? they ONLY develop for the ps3, so unless these were statements made by a TRULY INDEPENDENT studio that makes games on both platforms, this whole article is just biased fuel for the fire.....i don't even know why i bothered to waste my time to actually go through and pick apart his "points" since there really were none to begin with lol
