Default Why aren't more new releases coming out in HD?

By new releases, I mean NEW RELEASES. Not more catalogue tiles. Each week there are at least 5 new major films released on DVD. Why aren't some of these ready for HD DVD and Blu-ray as well. This, above all else is starting to annoy me. I mean, I have to think that is a big part of why neither format is gaining impressive marketshare in home video. I mean, it might help if Joe Everyman could walk down the New Release aisle at his local store and see a Blu-ray or HD DVD version of the new releases as well. Instead, Joe probably thinks, "Gee, I will still have to keep buying regular DVD's for new releases, that sucks!"

Does anyone know why both formats are going back catalogue heavy and forsaking some of the bigger new releases? I, personally, am not as excited to "re-buy" a bunch of old titles in HD, as I am to get a brand new movie to add to my collection, even if it has to be SD DVD. Recently, I've come across quite a few new SD DVD releases that can only be displayed with a 480p max resolution on my HD-XA2. I get a warning to that effect when I pop in some of the new SD DVD releases. I am running full HDMI too.

Is there any question that both formats wouldn't see greater growth if more new releases were available at the same time as the SD DVD counterpart? What's going on?
