The top speed of 155mph in the S2000 was done the day before I sold it off. Even though I had the hardtop on, it was still deafening at that speed. I didn't take my eye off the road, but did notice that I was doing like 8200-8500 rpms.

As for passing someone at twice their speed, it all depends on who it is and how fast they are initially driving. You should see some of these old bastards around our part of town. There is one old grey hair that I encounter in the morning commute that get's on the highway in his Jaguar XJ8 or BMW 760i every morning and heads straight for the high speed lane while doing 45mph maximum. Of course, then there is the old lady I sometimes encounter on my commute home who heads straight for the high speed lane in her Lexus LS430 and slows down to 40 mph or so.

Then i've also encountered a billionaire once in a while by the name of Carl Lindner who heads straight for the high speed lane and drives 45mph in his Bentley or Rolls Royce Phantom...........

The burst was only once I'd gotten to the front of a pack of traffic. I don't do this around others. It's a little rude to pass someone at twice their speed.

Other cars top speeds w/ me...
98 Prelude - 115
S2000 - 105 (it gets pretty loud over 75 in those things!)

Somewhat related...

I've fallen at over 120mph, which is V-Max for a free fall skydive from 13,000 ft. The deceleration upon chute deployment herniated 2 discs in my neck. But it was worth it.
