You have to watch HOW they measure the response times on LCD panels. There are two different measurements that different mfg use, and sometimes different between models of the same mfg based on prices.
I have no problem telling which screens are LCD vs Plasma even in a very bright showroom as along as there is fairly fast motion, but with many even a slow panning shot can show the motion issues. Don't get me wrong, I own a 32" LCD in my bedroom and I like it ok, but my 50" RP DLP looks better with SD signals also over the 32" LCD I have.
