Is 1360 (1366) x 768 HD?
Please help me understand something here. I'm working with a Samsung PPM50M5H plasma display, and have been for almost a year now. It's truly a great model.
I've authored some video content for it, as we've developed something we call RotoPlasma. I've just used the native resolution of 1360x768, and it is displayed using a PC.
My question concerns whether this display is really an HDTV. The documentation states that it will accept anything up to 1080i. However, since 1080i is 1920x1080, the display must be downscaling an HD signal, correct? Are there actually any LCDs or plasma TVs that have native HD resolution? I know larger PC displays (Apple, Dell) have that kind of resolution and greater, but what about the pro-sumer TV market?
Is it better to continue to author content with the native resolution, or should I consider authoring content that is 1080i? My figuring is that if I send it more pixels than it can actually display, some pixels will get ditched.
Also, my previous authoring has all been 30 frames per second. Would I benefit anything moving to 60 fps? I'm sure it would double the file sizes.. but would it really give smoother motion?
Your thoughts appreciated.
