some very important info you will need to ask prior to getting an e.w.
1. if your tv breaks and the warranty company decides to give you a refund because they cant fix it or it is to expensive to fix make sure to ask this. will they refund you the whole amount you paid or will they adjust the refund because it is a used item. most warranty companies will deplete the value and never let you know about it. it is a sneaky move but it is becoming a common practice.
2. how may bulb replacements do they offer over the life of the plan. if your not careful you may not notice that bulbs are not covered under the plan. if there is no bulb replacement then the warranty may not be worth it for a dlp tv.
3. does this plan run along your factory warranty or does it start when your factory warranty ends. this is major because if it runs along your factory warranty then why bother buying one unless its gonna cover atleast a few years past your factory warranty.
4. ask them about there lemon policy. a standard practice is 3 repair visits and if a 4th is needed then the tv is either replaced or refunded. if they dont have a lemon policy or allow more visits then keep looking.
5. do they have repair shops in your area and if so then who. some warranty companies let b.b. and other major chains who carry techs repair there warrantied product. this is a major plus.
6. ask about inhome repairs. the repair place and the warranty company are not the same company. so if the repair place runs into problems they may refuse to work on your tv unless they can get your tv into there shop. this is a big issue because you just dont know when you will be getting your tv back. it could take weeks to months. even though your warranty company says inhome warranty the repair shop may say no. so ask what is the warranty companys policy when this happens. this is another reason to ask if the warranty company has more then one repair shop in your area. if your warranty company says they have never heard of this happening then look through this forum and others like it. it has happened to way to many people who ended up with no choice but to send there tv into a shop and waiting way to long for there tv back.
most tv manufacturers contract an external company to handle extended warranties. there e.w. usualy an exact copy of the original factory warranty only with more years added on. because there conected to the tv manufacturer it may be better to deal with them. they have alot more to lose in the end then some company who only has to answer to themselfs.
i suggest calling samsung direct and asking them about there warranty. it may be cheaper then others and you dont need to buy it until your original warranty has at least 1 month left on it. the info bellow was copied directly from the samsung web site.

What The Samsung Extended Warranty Covers
Samsung Extended Warranty Plan begins after the manufacturer’s warranty has expired. The plan pays 100% of covered parts and labor for unlimited repairs during term of the contract. The extended warranty covers everything that the manufacturers warranty covers. For DLP lamp replacements, the customer is entitled to one lamp replacement under the extended warranty period.
What The Samsung Extended Warranty Does Not Cover
Any product damaged by natural disaster, theft, abuse, or any damage NOT a result of mechanical component failure.
Any costs above the normal rate such as overtime charges and additional trip charges unless specifically authorized.
Routine maintenance and consumable items
Units in commercial settings such as family business or office
Cosmetics: scratches, dents and etc.
Failures due to improper installation or pre-existing conditions
Equipment sold without manufacturer’s warranty or sold “as is”
Damage resulted from unauthorized repair
Customer education and no problem found service calls
Any repairs performed outside of the Service Net/Samsung Extended Warranty Terms and Conditions
