I talked to a microsoft rep about releasing an HDMI connection just for the regular console (the 360 pro model... not just the DVD player I mean). He read me an article that said "If the market should create the need for an HDMI connection then Microsoft will release one"... so it sounds like they really are waiting for someone else to take the first step.
