With a service manual, and if you are a techie, you could do it by yourself. It is not that complicated that I can see.
Or get a tech to give you an estimate, with the idea the charge for the diagnosis costs will be included if he does the work.
Still, substantially cheaper than a new display! And it could be a cheaper board also.

By the way, you can try to bargain hunt the web for a cheap prices on parts, and probably find Sony is about as cheap as you will get, the same goes for Sears. Their parts cost are the same almost to the penny.
