You guys are falling over the tricks of marketing accounting wizards. When a manufacture wants you to think they're taking a hose to provide you with the very absolute best perceived value they always cook the books a bit to frontload costs so that the marketing gurus can proclaim that the machine is, acutally, worth MORE than you paid for it. lol. Remember: you have to take into account the initial manufacturing costs are always higher but as production ratchets up the rollout cost per unit levels out. You, honestly, don't think Sony's paying the same amount--per chip--for 3rd party components as the average, mid-sized, tv manufacturer can negotiate? Those F-ers'll add things like the cost of globally advertizing the dang units to the sum total of cost-per if they know they can get away with it. Big Biz is all about profit and bottom line.

that $$$. Maybe M$, indeed, lost money for say the 1st six million 360's...they know they'll recoup it over the next 30 million. Just don't pity the titans of industry and buy whichever entertainment console you feel will give you the most pleasure for your hard earned bux.
