I have a Sony KDF-55WF655 with a bluish discoloration problem. Everyone has told me that the light engine needs to be replaced. BUT, the TV is no longer under warranty. Am I simply out of luck, or are there other options?

Can it be repaired?
Is my only other option to purchase a completely new TV?
Why does it seem that in every thread with questions about this problem, it happens to folks with Sony TV's? Is there a known reliability issue?

I can't shell out another $2500 - there must be another way!
