Why is my audio cutting out?
This questions is indirectly related to my high def television and I present it here because Cox Communications has not been able to solve my problem.
Some brief history. Before I got my Samsung Plasma HD, I had an issue with my audio cutting out on Speed Channel. It only happened on Speed Channel and always during commercials. I have a DVR by the way. Cox changed the DVR 2-3 times with no success. One Cox rep thought it might have to do with the way my audio was hooked up to my surround sound system. So when I switched to the Samsung I completely redid my wiring using Monster cable, including an HDMI cable. Well, the issue didn't go away. So I continue to struggle with it and Cox can't help. I swear it is Speed Channel related but they say that can't be. Well, here are some of the facts. Can anyone help me out?
1. The audio drops completely ONLY on Speed Channel.
2. When I watch Speed Channel (with or without recording on the DVR) I can always expect the audio to drop during a commercial break, but not on every commercial.
3. The audio drop happens just when a commercial ends and another one begins. Or when the commercials end and the regular show starts up.
4. Once the audio drops, it will not come back on until you go to another channel and then return to Speed Channel.
5. The audio loss is recorded if the show is recorded, so the same thing happens whenever you reach that point.
6. No other channel is an issue. This ONLY happens on Speed Channel.
7. It happens with local commercials as well as non-local or non-regional commercials.
8. It happens whether I am listening through my surround sound system (which is usually off) or the tv.
Is this weird or what? I suspect it has something to do with Cox downloading the commercial feeds, and the audio portion causing a conflict of some type.
Anyone have any thoughts, suggestions, comments?
